Named after Pierre LeMoyne d'Iberville, a French explorer who led the early settlement and colonization for the French. Plaquemine was one of the first three settlements in Louisiana. With the Mississippi River to the east, the scenic bayous throughout, Antebellum plantations and landmark structures, you can step back in time! Plaquemine, while embracing its history and culture, is one of the most historic, desirable and progressive cities in the south with much to offer not only to residents and businesses but visitors as well.
